Projects

MIRRA aims to be a major operator and implementer of development projects in the domain of water and agriculture in the region. In addition to that, MIRRA can cooperate with other implementing agencies and development actors on different project phases:


On-going projects

The IOJoV project

The Irrigation Optimisation in the Jordan Valley (IOJoV) project started in early 2008 and is funded by the French Development Agency (AFD). The 3 year long project is being implemented in the North Jordan Valley by Société du Canal de Provence (SCP) and MIRRA in cooperation with the Jordan Valley Authority (JVA). The project aims to optimise water distribution on two complimentary levels:

IRADA (ministry of planning and international cooperation)

A subsidy introduced from MIRRA where around 15 home gardens were equipped with drip irrigation for the purpose of medical herbs production in Al Ramtha city in the northern part of the kingdom.


IOWA

A USAID supported project through which MIRRA increased the irrigation efficiencies at the farm level. Several field days, workshop, lectures were conducted in addition to the rehabilitation of the existing irrigation networks in the Wadi Al Arab area in the northern part of the Jordan Valley.


Fresh World Project

Kuwaiti investment project located in Mafraq Governorate. MIRRA designed and installed all the irrigation networks (total area is around 1000 dunums). Green houses planted with strawberry were equipped with automatic systems for better irrigation management and scheduling. Automated back wash filtration units. Mist systems for cooling in summer and for preventing frost damage in winter.


NET Project

This project is owned by the Jordanian Armed Forces/ National Company for Employment and Training (NET). The aim of this project was to reuse the treated water using Automated Control System for a land area of about 700 dunums.
