Projects

MIRRA aims to be a major operator and implementer of development projects in the domain of water and agriculture in the region. In addition to that, MIRRA can cooperate with other implementing agencies and development actors on different project phases:

  • Conceptualisation: elaboration of concept notes and project proposals.
  • Implementation: technically by implementing activities in the field, or organisationally by raising the capacity of the beneficiaries.
  • Evaluation: conducting evaluation studies and identification of conditions for up scaling.

The IOJoV project

The Irrigation Optimisation in the Jordan Valley (IOJoV) project started in early 2008 and is funded by the French Development Agency (AFD). The 3 year long project is being implemented in the North Jordan Valley by Société du Canal de Provence (SCP) and MIRRA in cooperation with the Jordan Valley Authority (JVA). The project aims to optimise water distribution on two complimentary levels:

  • The water distribution level (managed by JVA): to adapt the networks and improve distribution efficiency,
  • The on-farm level: to demonstrate and promote new irrigation tools and practices.

The proposition of the IOJoV Extension Project is based on 6 years of pilot projects' outputs.
